Update a do.

So recently I felt the need to go off and try new things. I decided that the circus would be a good route to take. They didn't have any need for me in the acrobatics so I am learning the ropes of the cannon. It's a lot harder than it looks...I hope to move up to riding elephants in a month.

I am really excited about this new endeavor. I hope to see all of your when I come through town with the big top. Also, costumes are really expensive and since I had to beg the lion trainer to hire me on I agree to pay for all my costumes. Since I have to fly through a flaming hoop every time we perform you can imagine it gets pricey. I've set up a fund for contributions at flyingthroughhoops.circustoptime.com anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated.

Professional Golfing, with Professional People

As far as professional people go its harder to find a pair of guys more professional than Colin and I. And when were not in the office firing somebody, or putting together a power point presentation on firing people, we like to relax out on the golf course.
Within the Alliance Colin and I are notoriously known as the "Golfing Friends." and we do our best to live up to that name. Namely by playing golf and remaining cordial in our occasional interactions. Within the marvelous game of golf i'm more of short game guy, making an impressive 65% of all putts under two feet from the hole. And Colin is more of a long game guy and a short game guy. So we both have our strengths and weaknesses.
These pics are documenting our first day of golf for the 2011 golf season. You can tell its our first day by Colin's form. He's a little rusty. but he'll get it back, before the season is over. he always does. My form on the other hand is as perfect as always. This unique style has been handed down from Montgomery to Montgomery for generations.

Jill accompanied us on day of golf. Though she didn't play much she did give out some great advice. some notable exclamations include:
" Hit that ball !" and " Theres a bug on me!"

Its hard to make out the ball in this picture, but if you look really hard you can see it is actually still at his feet. He completely missed it.

so life has been increasingly crazy this year as D-Day (june 14) approaches, that is, boards step 1 which is basically the most important day for my future as a physician--no pressure right. Anyways, i've been studying so much my head often hurts and i think i've gotten a new white patch of hair (stress induced, no doubt;) But i still take some time

to enjoy life like 2 weekends ago when i ran the Warrior Dash (3.5 mile run with 12 obstacles). Costumes encouraged??? don't have to tell me twice--the race was awesome!!!

By the time you read this (since the average posting occurs about twice a year) I will be half way done with medical school (may 19), finally finished with classes and finals, and 1/3 certified to be a Dr. (june 14, assuming i pass...) Does that mean you should start calling me 1/3Dr. McMullin?

Going to California

Marie and I graduated from BYU. I will attend the UC Davis School of Law this fall. Davis is just west of Sacramento and less than 30 minutes from Marie's family in Fairfield. We're driving there this weekend to look for housing and employment. We'll move as soon as we have those things. Marie is working on the paperwork to get her RN license in California, which will take a bit of time for processing. Life is pretty good.

Dave's new job

So, as many of you may know, I have got myself a pretty cool job. I am the Marketing Director for Legacy Village Memory Care, in Taylorsville, Utah. It pretty much means I just hang out with old people all day long, and convince them to move into our Assisted Living Community. It is really quite fun, and I plan on sticking around for a while. What is fun about this gig is that this AL community is brand new, so I have started from scratch. I have attached some pictures of the place for you all to see!
I have actually found out that the U of U has a Masters program for Geriatric Care Management, for which I will be applying upon completion of the GRE!

Brian and Dave's day of fun in Glendale, AZ

This is Dave's first ever blog post of my entire life. I am kind of nervous... Hopefully this turns out folks! So, I had to run on a quick 3 day Marketing Trip to one of my company's Assisted Living Communities in Mesa, Arizona, which meant I had to bump into Dr., Captain Brian McMullin and Brian's brother Dave!

We had fun eating the Kiluea Burger at Paradise Burgers and then I got the non-virtual, in person tour of Brian's House! It is a pretty sweet bachelor pad. I would say that would be a good friends road trip destination. The night then ended with a riveting game a ping-pong. Oh what a night!

Oh, Spitz brand Dill Pickle Seeds are good because, not only do I like em, but the pilots do too, and if the pilots and officers are happy, then I'm happy.

It's "Student Doctor" to you...

Well I know most of you saw pix on facebook, but i thought it was time for someone to add something new to our little blog (even though i don't think dave has even looked at it and i was the last to post anything). My white coat ceremony was Oct 9th and basically is meant to symbolize the start of our professional career--more i think its a nice commemoration saying "yay you got into med school, here's a short white coat so you almost look like doctors (real drs wear long white coats)--nonetheless it was kinda exciting and i must say I look good in white;)

The two featured blondes are Betsy and Kristina, two of my better friends from school. They are fun and I am actually hoping Kristina will get baptized--its been a slow process but i have given her a Book of Mormon and she has very high standards for a non-member.

Come on to my house, my house I'm gonna make you candy....

I bought a house! Well its been two weeks and i'm all settled into my new house (except that my lawn is a mess)...things have been pretty exciting for me as a proud new home owner and i am now officially a "student doctor"--crazy!

So far I quite like arizona--except that its wicked hot! My first week of classes went well and hopefully that holds true when i take my first test tomorrow.

So, Marie and I went to Fairfield, California to attend her brother's wedding. All went well. My father-in-law enjoys restoring Volkswagen Karmann Ghias. These four now belong to his four children. The red one on the right is mine/Marie's. We were planning on towing it back with us because although it runs, it would be a very long trip. We ran into problems installing a hitch on my car because the kit U-Haul sold me came with the wrong bolts. I got my money back. We'll try again when we visit for Thanksgiving. Tomorrow, Marie and I will fly to Seattle for an extended family reunion on her father's side. We'll spend one day in the city itself, then a few days in a wilderness area to the north. We'll fly back on Sunday. Life is great. In other news, Marie passed her test to be a licensed practical nurse, or LPN. It's a step below an RN, which she'll be after she graduates in April. She's now looking for a job at a nursing home or hospital. Wish her luck.

For Parker

Happy Birthday to Parker!!!! Your favorite color is purple right? Above are some of the best pictures I could find of Parker. All from his proudest moments of senior year.

1. At prom. I think Karen ran off somewhere and I found Parker sitting alone so I thought I'd be nice and take a picture with him.

2. In St. George. I believe we were supposed to be in a work shop class at the time. This was taken when Park realized he'd left his snack in the classroom.

3. New Years 2002 on Ryan Button's driveway. Parker was trying to be cool, and totally succeded!!

4. The bus ride home from California. I told Parker that his dreams of becoming an archeologist were unrealistic. . . I may have been wrong.

Yay! Well I have a House! well, technically, I haven't "closed" the deal, but my offer has been accepted! 3 bed/2.5 bath and only 5 min. from school--I'm so happy

I'm getting better at posting, but I didn't put these pictures up chronologically and I'm too lazy to fix it. In fact, these pictures are in reverse chronological order, so this is on the way down. This is me sliding down the bowl above Red Pines Lake. Mike would throw boulders off the top of the mountain to try and trigger these mini avalanches. Eventually we decided to ride these avalanches down the bowl ... it was pretty much the coolest thing ever. The snow would make this 'sluffing' noise as it broke loose from the steep slope and slide down the bowl like a river.

I wish I had a better camera than just the one on my phone. This is the view looking south from the top of Mt. Pfieferhorn. The peak in the back left is Mt. Timpanogos.

I'm pretty sure we were the first people to summit for the season. If you notice, there are no footsteps in front of me. The peak in the background is the Pfieferhorn. It's an optical illusion, because it doesn't really look all that big ... but it was huge.
Mike was the trailblazer for most of the ascent ... what a badass.
It was clear weather when we started hiking, we saw a storm roll in as we made our way above the lakes. It snowed on us pretty lightly.

The Long Board Adventurers

Looking for Adventure? Have a board ? how long is it ? pretty long? cause its got to be a decent length. If you answered yes to some of these questions then you may want to consider thinking about, one day, possibly joining THE LONG BOARD ADVENTURERS. Where ever theres danger and adventure and a pretty smooth path near by, with not too many big rocks and at least some hills to go down, you'll find THE LONG BOARD ADVENTURERS.
